Qigong / Tai Chi – Manassass Virginia

In this 8-week course students will learn Kuan Yin Standing Qigong (consisting of ten movements) and the principal foundations of Tai Chi practice. The Kuan Yin Standing form physically strengthens the whole body while the back, neck and spine are made supple and flexible. This Qigong also encourages flexibility in the hips and encourages increased balance and stamina.
Tai Chi practice shares all of these benefits with somewhat greater emphasis on moving from the core center and rooting the feet for strength and balance. The flexibility that one develops in the practice of Tai Chi and Qigong does not come from pushing the body’s limits, but rather in letting go and relaxing.
This class is excellent for continuing students as well as for beginners. No experience needed. While drop-ins will be allowed by permission only – based on previous experience – it is not recommended, as the form is linear and the advanced-level details of each movement will only be given once. Subsequent classes will add a movement and focus on refinement of the details given the prior classes.
Wear loose, comfortable clothes. There is no floor work or equipment required.
