- Description: This is a new class within the Fairfax County Recreation system and focuses on the integration of body, mind, and sprit fundamental to all Taiji forms. The Taiji classics state that without a foundation of Qigong and meditation your Taiji form will remain empty and external. Using Master Yang Yang’s techniques we will explore and practice Qigong, and meditation (Zhang Zhuan, sitting, reclining). The combination of these creates the alignment, balance, coordination, central equilibrium and relaxation in movement necessary to begin moving with a partner in sensing hands (push hands). The emphasis is on nurturing the body, mind, and spirit in a balanced manner. Practitioners of other body movement arts (Qigong, Yoga and others) will also experience the benefits from movement using proper body mechanics principles. Prior practice of a style of Taiji or Qigong is recommended however not required.
