“Trust the Qi”

One day some years ago, after a particularly meaningful Qigong session in San Francisco’s Huntington Park, I sprained my ankle. Paying more attention to conversation than the sidewalk, my foot turned severely in a hole lurking there in Chinatown. I wanted to go to the Ko Wong Chi Kung Institute and RICE (rest, ice, compression and elevation). Sifu Ko would have none of that. He be conned me to follow him to our favorite restaurant for breakfast. Once there I pulled over a chair to set my foot upon, an act that was met with a frown and the word “later.”  Once back at the Institute after eating, Sifu put me on the table and gave me a Qigong treatment for about an hour. Afterwards, the swelling and pain gone, he said “If you trust the Qi, it is better.” Trust the Qi.
